Every two years, the German Welding Society (DVS) organizes an UNDERWATER TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE (UTC). Under the auspices of the DVS CONGRESS, the well-known specialist conference will take place in Essen in September 2023 parallel to the world's leading fair called SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN.

The conference brings together researchers and developers, professional divers, diving companies, representatives of the offshore energy market and other interested parties. In the past almost 15 years, the event format has developed into one of the most important forums for industrial divers and companies in the field of maritime technology.

The following subjects are popular for the offered papers: underwater welding and cutting, fabrication technologies in underwater technology, quality assurance, occupational health and safety, corrosion protection under water, news from research and development, norms and standards as well as best-practice projects.

In 2023, the conference will encompass a German-language programme section and an English-language programme section for the first time.
